Definition:

A state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion that may be accompanied by a change in attitude from positive caring to negative and unconcerned. Fatigued care givers may experience stress, depression, anger, and/or anxiety.

Symptoms:

• Irritability
• Changes in sleep patterns
• Feelings of wanting to hurt self or care receiver
• Getting ill/sick more frequently
• Emotional & Physical exhaustion
• Changes in weight, appetite, or both
• Feelings of helplessness, hopelessness
• Withdrawal and Isolation
• Excessive/Abusive use of alcohol or drugs
